The newer and most popular floors are engineered wood floors; while still being made of real solid wood, the product is made by placing a number of layers of wood in a transversal pattern for added strength and durability. Then they are finished with a coat of aluminum oxide for scratch resistance and durable shine. These kind of floors are very pleasing to the eye, reasonably priced, more durable than the old style solid hardwood, easier to install, prefinished, etc… I recommend this product where the application is appropriate.
